Tour Overview
This is the western Rajasthan circuit, built around the desert rather than the palaces. The landscape changes noticeably as you go — from the scrub around Bikaner to open dunes west of Jaisalmer — and the camp night at Sam is the centrepiece.

Arrive Jaipur
Pickup, check-in, evening at leisure or sunset at Nahargarh.

Jaipur sightseeing
Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and the bazaars.

Jaipur to Bikaner
335 km north, arriving in time for Junagarh Fort and the camel research centre.

Bikaner to Jaisalmer
Deshnok en route, then 330 km across the desert. Evening in the fort lanes.

Jaisalmer & the dunes
Sonar Quila, Patwon ki Haveli and Gadisar Lake, then out to Sam for a camel ride, sunset, folk music and a night at camp.

Jaisalmer to Jodhpur
285 km with stops at Kuldhara and Pokhran. Evening at the clock tower market.

Vehicle Information
This itinerary is normally run with a Innova, Innova Crysta or Tempo Traveller with driver. The same vehicle and driver stay with you for the whole trip, so your luggage never moves between cars and the day plan can flex as you go. If your group size or luggage suggests a different vehicle, we will say so when we quote.

Rajasthan Desert Tour — FAQs
How cold does a desert camp get in winter?
December and January nights near Sam can approach freezing. Camps provide blankets and bonfires, but bring proper warm layers.
Is the camel ride suitable for older travellers?
Short rides are usually fine, and jeep safaris are an easy alternative for anyone who prefers not to ride.
Can we do this trip in summer?
We would advise against it. April to June regularly exceeds 45°C in the Thar, which makes the outdoor parts unpleasant and occasionally unsafe.
